Spreading Our Success Responsibly
There is a saying that states, "The fruit of our success preserves the seed of our failure." Management’s main task in successful companies is to maintain and grow their results in order to keep that seed inactive and/or controlled.
Currently, companies are beginning to focus on execution with social responsibility. Originally based on a philanthropic approach, corporate social responsibility (CSR) has evolved into a more win-win strategy. CSR seeks sustainable development, value added knowledge, and not just financial, but human involvement and a socially responsible culture: which means not only handing out checks. It’s the way money is made through a socially responsible operation, not the way it is invested to ´repair´ social damage that it generates.
GBM is conscious of the value that these types of initiatives bring to the table, and as a result is currently in the process of formulating its regional CSR program. GBM’s vision regarding CSR is based on three fundamental principles:
Sustainability:
GBM will financially support social programs and will actively contribute our talents to creating a technological impact that allows interest groups to capitalize on that knowledge in view of a more sustainable and brighter future.
Regionalization:
GBM intends to spread its CSR program in a monolithic manner, aligned throughout the region in which it operates. This will ensure a clear mission and vision; focused on that which identifies the Corporation as a strong participant within the established initiatives.
Critical Knowledge (Core Competence):
GBM possesses a unique talent and commercial ´network´ in the region. With that strength, we intend to have an impact on critical knowledge in select social groups, so that they may become self-sufficient and capable of building a promising future for their families and communities.
We align our actions and efforts according to the Grupo Pellas’ CSR Diamond and identify policies, programs and initiatives that include all GBM stakeholders with whom we are socially responsible, namely Shareholders, Employees, Community Business Partners (customers and suppliers) and the Environment.
For the remainder of the year, we intend to focus on formalizing the identified initiatives and strengthen our organizational culture towards more socially responsible efforts and include our collaborators, clients and suppliers in the process, so that through them we can provide an added value to our program.
